We are delighted to announce that QEH Juniors proudly stands as Bristol’s inaugural independent school accredited in Values-based Education (VbE).

Last month, we were visited by Kathy Wood MBE as part of our journey to be recognised as a VbE school. This journey, which began with a training session led by Neil and Jane Hawkes, the founders of VbE, several a years ago, has been led by Sarah Hall, our Assistant Head Pastoral and Logistics. Mrs Hall also studied for her Masters in Education focussing on Values-based Education and the impact it has upon school for which she gained a Distinction.

This globally recognised movement infuses our curriculum and daily life with positive human values like respect, reflection, resilience, and kindness. By prioritising character development alongside academics, we equip our pupils with essential life skills for holistic growth.

Our commitment to VbE fosters a supportive learning environment where pupils thrive emotionally and academically. Reflection sessions encourage self-awareness and mindfulness, enhancing academic performance and overall well-being.

In a message to Mr Kendall, Head of QEH Juniors, Mrs Wood commented that she left QEH Juniors ’…with a suitcase of passionate stories that capture the care, kindness and compassion that QEH Junior School brilliantly role model for their young learners.’

At the inaugural AI in Education Conference hosted by HMC, QEH's Mr Verry presented on how the school is harnessing AI for innovation. His insights emphasised practical applications that enhance learning. The event featured many notable speakers, underscoring QEH's commitment to leading educational innovation and exploring AI's future in the classroom.

The QEH Development Office has won an IDPE Award for its 1590 Bursary Fund campaign, recognising its transformative impact on students. Bursary recipient Tom Conradi shared how the fund shaped his life. This success is made possible by the generosity of the QEH community, making education accessible for all.

As well as being Head of Religion and Philosophy, Zak leads our digital vision. He was instrumental in developing our excellent online learning offering during lockdown, much to the relief of our parents, and is now leading the roll out of our school device programme.

We will remember them

Our Year 7 students were busy bees during their enrichment sessions last week, making eco-friendly lip balm from beeswax, olive oil and coconut oil.
