Old Elizabethan Daz Ahmed returns to QEH with Year 12 cricketers, delivering fielding drills and one to one batting coaching while sharing insights from his professional cricket journey with Gloucestershire CCC.
It was a pleasure to welcome Old Elizabethan Daaryoush “Daz” Ahmed (Bird, 2012–2019) back to QEH, as he spent time working with our Year 12 cricketers in an inspiring coaching session.
Daz, who made his professional debut for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club in 2025, has displayed an impressive rise through the game. Having developed his cricket through the Gloucestershire Pathway, the South Asian Cricket Academy, and the MCC, he has worked his way into the professional ranks through dedication, resilience, and talent.
A proud Bristol local and former QEH pupil, Daz featured in the Metro Bank One Day Cup during his debut season before going on to make his County Championship debut at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground against Middlesex, a significant milestone in any cricketer’s career.

During his visit to our Failand sports ground, Daz led the students through a fielding session before offering one to one batting coaching. His encouraging approach and high level of technical knowledge made a real impression on the students, who benefited enormously from his guidance on shot selection, technique, and game awareness.
Beyond the coaching itself, it was especially valuable for our pupils to hear from someone who once sat in the very same classrooms and has since gone on to achieve success in the professional game. Daz’s journey is a brilliant example of where commitment and ambition can lead.
We are extremely grateful to Daz for giving up his time to support and inspire our students, and it was wonderful to welcome him back to QEH. We look forward to following his continued success in the years ahead.
