Last week saw the Drama department’s Spring Term production After Life brought to the stage.
“If you could spend eternity with just one precious memory, what would it be?” Written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and adapted from Hirokazu Kore-eda’s award winning film, After Life is a play about finding one memory that you could endure within, forever. In this production “a group of strangers grapple with this impossible question as they find themselves in a bureaucratic waiting room between life and death. Encouraged by enigmatic officials, they must sift through their past lives to choose their forever”.
The cast performed superbly and it was lovely to see students from years 9, 10 and 12 back on stage in front of a live audience. Their characterisations were sensitive, witty and nuanced and it was such a joy to work on this play with so many talented young performers. It was a thought-provoking production about life and death and it got many audience members thinking – if this was your last day on earth, what memory would you choose?
Thank the whole cast and crew for their hard work on this production and to everyone who came to see it, we hope you enjoyed the performances and the questions their characters provoked.
