A number of our Year 8 and 9 Eco-reps braved the muddy conditions at Failand this week to begin efforts to plant willow hedges along areas of the site.

Students busied themselves seed-balling areas of grassland, as well as preparing and sowing areas with wildflower seeds for a wider re-wilding project underway. With funds from QEH Friends, the Sustainability Team have been able to fund the wildflower seed balls, chosen to improve the biodiversity at specifically chosen areas at Failand. Saurabh and Will, our Year 9 Eco-reps together with Sam, Zac, Joel, Oliver, Panos and Leo, our Year 8 Eco-reps worked hard during the afternoon and will be part of the wider team involved in designing wildlife and well-being areas for the benefit of all users Failand.

We look forward to seeing the flowers growing in the coming months.
