Paris at Christmas – A Trip to Remember

A successful Paris Christmas trip gave the QEH students the chance to experience French culture, language and festive traditions first hand.

In December, 40 pupils from Years 8 to 11 took part in the Modern Foreign Languages much-anticipated Paris Christmas trip, enjoying a memorable and highly successful four-day visit to the French capital.

Travelling by coach and ferry via Dover and Calais, pupils were fully immersed in French culture, language, and festive traditions from the moment they arrived. The seasonal atmosphere of France in December provided the perfect backdrop for an exciting and enriching experience.

The itinerary was packed with highlights. A full day at Disneyland Paris brought festive magic and unforgettable memories. Visits to the Paris Christmas Market and the beautifully atmospheric Arras Christmas Market gave pupils the opportunity to sample traditional treats, practise their French in real-life situations and find some wonderful Christmas gifts.

A walking tour of Montmartre, taking in iconic landmarks such as the Sacré-Cœur and the Louvre, allowed pupils to explore Paris’s rich history and culture, while an evening River Seine cruise offered breath-taking views of the ‘City of Lights’ sparkling after dark.

Throughout the trip, the pupils were a real credit to the school. They were exceptionally well behaved, enthusiastic and curious, embracing every opportunity with positivity and maturity. Their sense of humour and excellent company made the trip a pleasure for both pupils and staff alike.

Led by Mrs C Gardner, Mr R Carr and Mrs K Izzard-Clark, the visit was a fantastic way to begin the Christmas holidays and a wonderful example of how educational trips can bring language learning to life beyond the classroom.

The school would like to thank all the pupils for making the trip so special, as well as the staff team for their support and good humour throughout.
