QEH Junior and Senior School Carol Services

Community and music are independently corner stones of life at QEH, at the end of the autumn term the two joined together to celebrate both our Junior and Senior School Carol Services. Both services offered a memorable opportunity to reflect, celebrate, and come together at the close of a busy and successful term.

The Junior School gathered on the last Thursday evening of term for its much-loved annual Carol Service. With the choir dressed smartly in their blue coats, the boys walked together to Victoria Methodist Church, creating a festive and joyful procession that set the tone for the evening. The Chamber Choir gave a beautiful performance of Christmas in the Valley, filling the church with music and seasonal spirit. Boys from across the school contributed readings and led prayers with confidence and thoughtfulness, making the service a truly special occasion. Families and staff gathered afterwards for mince pies and mulled wine in the dining hall.

Followed the next day by the Senior School Carol Service, the wider QEH community then came together in the magnificent surroundings of Bristol Cathedral. The atmosphere was one of reflection, celebration and togetherness. The choir were outstanding, performing a carefully chosen programme that included The Angel Gabriel, Suo Gân and Jesus Christ the Apple Tree, filling the Cathedral with beautiful sound. Reverend Canon Pilgrim opened the service with a welcome, and it was a pleasure to see pupils from across the year groups taking part through readings, showcasing the strength of our school community. The service concluded with a powerful and joyful rendition of O Come, All Ye Faithful, uniting everyone in song and providing a fitting and uplifting end to the term.

These memorable occasions showcase the hard work and collaboration of our music departments in both schools, and we remain thankful for such opportunities to showcase the talent of our pupils.

QEH Sixth Forms girls enjoyed a rugby coaching session with Bristol Bears.

You run a remarkable school with an ethic that is truly unique. It shines through in each and every boy. There’s something in the way the teachers know every boy’s talent and in the way the boys support each other (while also embracing real competition!) that’s just remarkable.
