Junior School admissions
Welcome to QEH Junior School. We offer boys in Years 3 to 6 an ambitious, supportive, and inspiring next stage in their education. These four years in a boy’s life are crucial. This is when he develops the attitudes, values, and ways of thinking that will shape him as an adult.
With small class sizes where no boy is overlooked, we help every child achieve more than he ever imagined possible.
Alongside strong academic foundations, pupils are encouraged to develop independence, curiosity, and self-belief through sport, music, drama, clubs, and outdoor education. Our Junior School admissions team will guide your family from your first enquiry and visit through to application and enrolment.
Entry to QEH Junior School
The main entry points to QEH Junior School are Years 3 and 5. Places may also be available in Years 4 and 6 subject to availability.
Families interested in an occasional or in-year place should contact the admissions team who would be delighted to discuss this with you.

Quest Days are our combined Junior School taster experience and entrance assessment days, which gives boys the opportunity to experience life at QEH while helping us understand how they learn, work with others, and approach new challenges.
The morning takes place at the Junior School and includes lessons, activities, and short online assessments. The afternoon is spent at the school’s sports ground at Failand doing fun team building activities.

The online assessments cover:
- English
- Mathematics
- Verbal reasoning
- Non-verbal reasoning
The assessments are completed on an iPad and include example questions and regular breaks. Familiarisation exercises are available so boys can become comfortable with the online format before attending.

A holistic approach
We do not measure boys on test scores alone. Quest Days offer a complete view of your son as an individual. Following our autumn 2025 ISI inspection, QEH was awarded a ‘Significant Strength’ for our provision for pupils’ physical, mental health, and emotional wellbeing. We pay equal attention to how each boy collaborates during lessons, embraces fresh challenges, demonstrates resilience, and shows kindness to other children and staff.
Following Quest Day, families will be contacted with the outcome and details of the next steps.

Celebrating our ISI Excellence
We are delighted to share the results of our autumn 2025 ISI inspection. At QEH, we are especially proud to have been awarded a ‘Significant Strength’ for our provision for Pupils’ Physical and Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing.
This rare distinction, currently held by only 10% of schools, is a testament to the dedication of our staff in creating a nurturing and aspirational environment where every pupil can thrive. The report also confirms that QEH is fully compliant, meeting every required standard for independent schools.
We invite you to watch our short video to see these highlights in action and discover what makes the QEH experience so unique.
