Wet weather doesn’t dampen Year 5’s enthusiasm

Last Friday, Year 5 undertook their latest QE Award expedition when they spent the day on the Mendip Hills. As you will see from the photographs, the weather was perhaps the biggest challenge for the boys (and staff!). At one point the rain did actually stop… for all of about 5 minutes!

The boys did brilliantly and when they might well have had every reason to ask the age-old questions of “Are we nearly there yet” or “How much further”, instead their enthusiasm was fantastic. They showed some super values throughout the day by demonstrating empathy towards each other and resilience in themselves by not giving up and continuing to battle through the elements. We did take shelter for a short while in Goat Church Cave, which was both a welcome relief and a great experience.

Thanks for making the day so enjoyable and making the best of some ‘challenging conditions’ (thanks for the quote Mr Hall). Thanks to the staff, who might think twice before ‘volunteering’ for the next QE Award expedition!

The Queen Elizabeth (QE) Award is exclusive to QEH Juniors and is based on the principles of the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme. Boys take part in a variety of outdoor pursuits and voluntary activities throughout Years 5 and 6, culminating in an overnight camp on Exmoor at the end of Year 6.

Ollie is a QEH 'lifer', as he joined QEH Juniors in Year 3, eleven years ago.  It's been great to watch his development through the years, both on and off the pitch.

Live Music returns to QEH

We are delighted to announce the latest edition of the QEH Podcast series, which is released every other Thursday during term time.

Latest QEH Podcast with Estates Bursar

We just wanted to write and say how genuinely delighted we are having moved our son to QEH. We have been so impressed by everything he has done and how everyone has been so interested and kind - all boys and teachers! It’s hard to describe to people what we like about it so much but in comparison to other schools it just has that something extra - almost like a sparkle! It’s a shame we can’t send our daughter just yet!
