ISI Awards QEH a Significant Strength

QEH is proud to celebrate outstanding ISI inspection results, including a rare ‘Significant Strength’ award for Pupils’ Physical and Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing.

At the end of the autumn term 2025, QEH was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). We are delighted to share the outcome of this inspection and to celebrate the recognition of the exceptional work taking place across our school community.

We are particularly proud to announce that QEH was awarded a ‘Significant Strength’ for our provision for Pupils’ Physical and Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing.

The report states:
Leaders effectively implement and co-ordinate a range of wellbeing programmes, as well as training for teachers and pupil leaders, that have a clear and demonstrable impact on pupils’ growth in self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence. This is a significant strength of the school.

Being awarded a ‘Significant Strength’ is rare, with this level of recognition currently given to only around 10% of schools inspected by ISI. This achievement is testament to the dedication, care and expertise of our staff, who work tirelessly to create a supportive, nurturing and aspirational environment in which every pupil can thrive. In addition to this distinction, the report confirms that QEH met all the required standards for independent schools. Under the current framework, schools can only either ‘meet’ or ‘not meet’ these standards, and we are pleased that the inspection found us fully compliant in every area.

During their visit, inspectors focused on five key aspects of school life:

  1. Leadership, Management and Governance
  2. Quality of Education, Training and Recreation
  3. Pupils’ Physical and Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing
  4. Pupils’ Social and Economic Education and Contribution to Society
  5. Safeguarding

The outcome reflects the strength of our whole-school approach: strong leadership, high-quality teaching, a deep commitment to wellbeing, and a culture that encourages pupils to grow in confidence, character and capability.

Rupert Heathcote, Head, said ‘I am incredibly proud of the staff and the pupils for achieving this accolade’.

The report is a glowing reflection of the values we uphold and the community we continue to build at QEH. To read the full report please click here.

Thank you for making Alec’s first week so enjoyable. He’s loved every day and has come home really happy. In particular, he’s said the other boys have made him feel really included and like he’s always been there.
