QEH pupils celebrate another outstanding year of GCSE success

Pupils at QEH are celebrating today after achieving another excellent set of GCSE results. The 2025 outcomes show a further rise in top grades compared to last year, with results that highlight both academic excellence and the determination of this year’s cohort.

This year 66% of all grades awarded were at 7–9, comparing very well with the national average of 21.9% and the 19.4% national average for boys. This represents a 5% increase on QEH’s 2024 results and marks the school’s best performance since before the Covid pandemic. Additionally, 43% of grades were 8-9.

A number of individual successes stand out, with 16% of students achieving a grade 8 or 9 in 10 different subjects. At the same time, QEH is equally proud that pupils of all abilities have met and exceeded their own expectations, demonstrating the breadth and depth of achievement across the year group.

The results are particularly impressive given that the year group was significantly larger than in 2024, with 23 more students sitting GCSEs this summer.

Pupils who began their QEH journey in Year 3 of our Junior School achieved an outstanding 80% of grades at 7–9, a figure which highlights the benefits of the strong foundations built during their early years at the school.

These results provide an excellent foundation for the next stage of their education.”

QEH’s continued success at GCSE level underscores the school’s commitment to academic ambition, pastoral care and individual development. Pupils will now move on with confidence to their A-level studies in the Sixth Form, many of them joining QEH’s thriving co-educational community in September.
