A Celebration of Music at QEH

Music at QEH has never been stronger, and this term has seen some truly unforgettable performances that have showcased the immense talent and dedication of our pupils. From the raw energy of Open Mic Night to the breath-taking concert at St George’s Bristol, these events have demonstrated the depth of musical excellence across the school.

For this term’s Open Mic Night, the dining room was transformed into a lively and dynamic performance space. A packed audience was treated to two hours of high-quality musical entertainment, with acts from all age groups taking to the stage. Younger pupils from the school’s Rock Project delivered well-rehearsed and confident performances, transporting the audience back to the golden age of rock. Their renditions of classic hits from the 70s and 80s brought an electrifying atmosphere, proving that rock and roll is very much alive at QEH.

Alongside the high-energy performances, the evening also featured beautifully sung ballads and smooth instrumentals, adding moments of light and shade to the event. Even the staff band held their own, much to the delight of the audience.

For the first time, pupils from both the Junior and Senior Schools shared the stage in a landmark collaboration at our Spring Concert at St George’s Bristol. With the venue’s stunning acoustics amplifying every note, 120 young musicians from Years 5 to 13 delivered an awe-inspiring programme of music. From dynamic ensembles to soaring choral pieces, the concert was a testament to the dedication and passion of our musicians.

The concert not only celebrated the exceptional musical achievements of our pupils but also strengthened the bonds across year groups—laying the foundation for even greater performances to come.

With such a wealth of talent on display, music at QEH continues to flourish. These events have been a true celebration of the dedication, creativity, and passion that define our musical community. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
