QEH is Bristol’s leading independent day school.

Founded in 1590, today QEH is made up of the Junior School (Years 3-6), Senior School (Years 7-11) and a fully co-educational Sixth Form (Years 12 & 13). We are boys only in Years 3-11, offering a tailored environment for their development, before welcoming girls into our vibrant Sixth Form community.

Following our December 2025 ISI Inspection, QEH is currently the only school in Bristol to have been awarded a ‘Significant Strength’. This rare level of recognition, held by only 10% of schools inspected nationally, was awarded for our provision for Pupils’ Physical and Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing. The report also confirms QEH met all required standards for an independent school and reflects our commitment to our school motto: dum tempus habemus operemur bonum, ‘whilst we have time, let us do good’.
