At QEH, we provide a wide range of co-curricular choirs. Our current list includes:
This is our largest choir consisting of around 80 pupils. They rehearse each week and perform annually in Bristol Cathedral at our two major services, as well as our Spring Concert.
This is a small auditioned choir of around 10 pupils. It rehearses each week and performs regularly throughout the year at Council Prayers and Mayor Making services in the Lord Mayor's Chapel, as well as at our Chamber Music Concerts.
Junior Choir and Senior Choir
Both rehearse each week. As well as sectional work for the School Choir, they also learn separate repertoires for our major concerts such as the Carols by Candlelight, the Spring Concert and the Junior Music Showcase.
Year 7 Choir
This choir includes every member of Year 7. It rehearses during weekly music lessons and performs throughout the year both in informal concerts and at the Junior Showcase.
These are put together each year for the annual House Music Competition. They are led by the senior students and perform in the House Music Finals Evening.
This is formed every two years for a joint Choir Tour with The Red Maids’ High School. Recent tours include Rome 2016, Prague 2014 and China 2012.
Chamber Choirs of varying sizes and styles are formed on occasion. These include Barbershop Quartets and Acapella Choirs that perform at various concerts including ‘Unplugged’ concerts and the Jazz Evening.
