Visiting Productions

Since its opening by Princess Anne in 1990, more than 700,000 people have attended performances, workshops, presentations, lectures and lessons in the theatre with an average of 150 different events each year.

More than 300 professional theatre, dance, music, comedy and poetry companies and artists have performed at the theatre and it has shown work reflecting more than 40 different nationalities and cultures. Lectures and presentations also form a strong strand of the theatre’s work and we have welcomed, among others, Sir David Attenborough, the Chief Rabbi, the Director of the National Gallery, while Rick Stein gave an unforgettable demonstration on stage! Strong links are established with more than 30 local organisations and community groups who are regular users of the theatre.

The QEH Theatre could not function without a team of dedicated student volunteers. Along with the Technical Manager, no fewer than 90 boys regularly support the theatre as front of house and technical staff.
