London Dinner 2016

Following the success of our ‘425’ London Dinner we were once again at the magnificent East India Club in St James on Friday 24 June 2016.

We began with drinks in the Clive Room from 6.30pm, dinner being served at 7.15pm. The bar was open before the event and  until 11.00pm when proceedings finished. Much discussion was had during the evening, being the day that the Brexit result was announced!

This, the largest of the regional dinners, is arranged for Old Elizabethans and their partners, to meet former pupils and staff, enjoy lively company and discuss the past, present and future of the school.

Our Guest Speaker was Rob Gardner (OE, 1992-1997) who spoke stimulatingly on the topic:

"Life can only be understood backwards;

but it must be lived forwards"

Rob Gardner is Chairman & founder of Redington, an award winning consultancy which has over £270 billion of assets and advises top pension funds in the UK. Above all it is facing the real pension crisis that we all know about!

QEH pupils have benefited from Rob’s RedStart outreach programme for young people in the UK, and his team has been to QEH to run a day’s interactive workshop inspiring our young business leaders of the future to better understand financial problems and make the right decisions.

Rob is focused on helping people feel financially secure. His plan is for Redington to have shown the world there is a way to solve the pensions crisis, improving peoples’ quality of life in retirement and reducing the financial burden on the next generation.
